About the Instructor

Gillian was born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland.

Her love of highland dancing began at the age of 4.

She was a competitive dancer for 14 years, winning many awards and danced at championship level from the age of 10.

She toured with a music and dance group in Europe and Canada and successfully completed all her graded dance examinations with Highly Commended (the highest level attainable).

Gillian is a qualified highland dance instructor having received highly commended in her Fellow exam with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D).

She is also a member of the Federation of United States Teachers and Adjudicators (F.U.S.T.A)

Gillian was taught at the Jeanette Shearer School of Dance. Jeanette is a highly regarded Fellow & Examiner of the B.A.T.D and an International Adjudicator on the Scottish Offical Board of Highland Dancing (S.O.B.H.D). Jeanette has lectured & offered masterclass workshops in Highland Dancing extensively across Scotland, England, Canada, USA and New Zealand.

Gillian attributes all her dancing success to Jeanette, who is also her loving mum!

Besides dancing, Gillian has a Master of Science Degree in Physiotherapy & worked to the level of Clinical Specialist & Deputy Manager of Acute Physiotherapy Services in Aberdeen.

Gillian relocated from Scotland to The Woodlands, Texas in 2013 with her husband Terry and son Jack.

Gillian looks forward to sharing her love and passion of highland dance with others.
